The " Zhurong ", the Chinese rover on Mars , is the protagonist of the new audiovisual material - both photographs and videos, but also sounds - published today by the National Space Administration of China (ANEC).

It consists of two photos, three videos and a sound file.

Among the photographs, there is a 360-degree color panorama of the barren and stony surface of the red planet, and a black and white snapshot of the "Zhurong" shoot (named after the god of fire in ancient Chinese mythology ) with the landing module of the Tianwen-1 probe in the background.

As for the videos, one of them is of the landing process -on May 15-, and in another the explorer robot appears maneuvering, captured a few meters away from a removable camera that the vehicle is usually installed in the underbody .

In the last one, the aforementioned camera captures "Zhurong" moving away from it after detaching himself from it.

The sound file includes the process of descent of the landing platform of the Tianwen-1 probe to the Martian surface, which occurred on May 22.

According to information published today by the ANEC on its website, the "Zhurong" has been operating on the surface of the red planet for 42 Martian days and has traveled about 236 meters.

This rover is part of the Chinese Tianwen-1 mission, sent into space in July 2020 and whose landing probe reached the planet's surface on May 15, in the southern part of the so-called Utopia Planitia, a plain located in the northern hemisphere.

Tianwen-1 (whose name can be translated as "heavenly questions") is China's first exploration mission to Mars and the first in history to combine travel, orbit entry and descent into a single mission.

Chinese scientists intend to find more evidence of the existence of water or ice on that planet, as well as carry out research on the material composition of the surface of Mars or the characteristics of the climate.
