Facebook announced on Friday that it had incorporated licensed music videos to its social network in the United States, in competition with YouTube , which concentrates the traffic of clips of singers and musicians.
Users will be able to gather around the official music videos on
Facebook, which will feature content from J. Balvin, Karol G, Sebastian Yatra, and other artists.
With official music videos on
Facebook, we are creating new experiences that go beyond watching the video, Vijaye Raji, vice president of the music business development firm, said in an online post.
We will continue to work with our partners to build a unique social experience and bring music to ways that people connect and share.
Facebook's music experience service is available in India and Thailand, but this weekend it makes its debut in the United States, according to Raji.
There will also be playlists as in streaming services (Spotify, Deezer, etc).
The social network launched this service in the United States in association with labels such as Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and BMG.
Music videos have greatly contributed to the growth of YouTube, Google's video platform that has more than two billion monthly users.
