Shortly after 1:00 a.m. today, Saturday, 22nd August, police officers on patrol in Smiths Parish, came upon a car lodged in an open trench in the vicinity of the old post office, on Harrington Sound Road.
The 41 year old male driver was extracted from the vehicle by members of the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service.
He was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to his injuries, which were considered to be non-life-threatening.
The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving whilst impaired.
